Court use for tennis during Stage 3 Lockdowns

Hi all,

DCTC is pleased to announce that Nillumbik Council has aligned with Tennis Victoria and given permission for our courts to be used again for social tennis and coaching.  Please be aware that to allow this, there are some very important restrictions to comply with to maintain safety and well being for everyone.

1.  Everyone who attends our courts must provide their name, contact details and the time/date they were at the courts.

2.  Only 2 people are allowed to play tennis on each court (with a maximum of 10 people at any one time across all of our 6 courts).

3. Clubrooms will remain closed and locked at all times.  Toilets are not available and court lights cannot be used for social tennis.

4. All previously communicated club COVID-19 safety requirements still apply  i.e. using sanitizer, social distancing etc.

5. Compliance to all of the Tennis Victoria / Nillumbik Council requirements is expected.

Tennis coaching has recommenced and will be held as per previous days and time slots.   There will be some minor changes to coaching arrangements to meet the new requirements - particularly to group sessions.   Please contact the coaches directly for any specific coaching concerns or questions.

We are extremely grateful to the Council to enable tennis to continue at our club during the lockdown period.  Please ensure you do your part in protecting our community and follow the rules.

Coronavirus - Impacts to Competition and Coaching at DCTC

Hi all,

Please be advised of the following announcements regarding tennis competition and coaching at Diamond Creek Tennis Club. Communication of any changes will be provided as more information comes to hand.

North Eastern Junior Tennis Association (NEJTA). All Saturday morning junior tennis has been cancelled until further notice. NETJA are meeting again on Tuesday 17 March and will provide further updates.

North Eastern Night Tennis Group (NENTA). Have decided to postpone all competition until further notice. This applies to DC Tuesday Night Sect 3 Men's team and Thursday Night Section 1 Mixed team.

Heidelberg & District Association (HDTA). Have cancelled all Tuesday Daytime matches until further notice. HDTA are meeting again today and will provide further updates.

Diamond Valley Tennis Association (DVTA). Have decided to "Continue" playing competition however with appropriate precautions. This means all DVTA - Monday to Thursday Mixed, Men's & Ladies Night and Day matches along with Friday night Junior singles are currently scheduled to go ahead as normal.

The Diamond Creek TC committee's first priority is the welfare and wellbeing of it's members. To this point, we are not aware of any club member who has been infected with COVID-19. It is strongly suggested that any person who feels they may be at risk, have low immunity levels or be showing symptoms of illness does not attend the club or play tennis.

The club is also adopting the health precautions recommended by Tennis Australia which include: - Requiring washing of hands regularly (hand soap and sanitizers have been put in the clubrooms)
- Minimizing physical contact with other players (i.e. do not shake hands after a match),
- Keeping our facilities clean, washing dishes etc.
- Using food and drink from pre packed containers where possible.
- Using your own towel.
- Distancing your self from others if you are unwell, coughing or sneezing.

Individual Discretion:

With the current controls in place, DCTC has accepted each Tennis Association's direction for competition. In the case of the DVTA, we would like to stress that it is each members discretionary decision as to whether they are comfortable to play competition or not. We ask that Team Captains confer with their players to determine if they collectively or individually wish to continue playing competition. Emergency players are allowed to fill in for a team as per normal however if a team cannot field enough players a forfeit is still incurred. If an entire team is not willing or able to play during the foreseeable future, could the team captain please contact me to raise with the DVTA.

For teams and players who have had competition cancelled however would like to continue playing tennis, you are still welcome to use the courts (and lights) for social tennis or to hit amongst yourselves. We ask that you adopt the same precautions as members playing competition.

Courts will also be made available on weekends for members to use.

Coaching:

Tennis Coaching from Monday to Wednesday with Wendy, Ollie and Kurt remains unchanged at this stage. Laszlo has advised that no classes are impacted to this point.

Finally - if any club member has concern or wishes to discuss this situation, please contact myself or any of the club committee as we are happy to listen and assist where we can. The club will endeavor to keep you updated or advise of any change as it happens.

Regards,

Geoff
